Clinton Ang Business, Economic, and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment At the age of 37, Mr Clinton Ang epitomizes the qualities of a young entrepreneur: driven, visionary and a risk- taker. He is the Managing Director of Hock Tong Bee Pte Ltd, one of the long-standing companies in the wine industry. Clinton believes that the key to business renewal is corporate succession. He has initiated internship programmes with local tertiary institutions, providing training, referrals and scholarships to aspiring entrepreneurs. |
Adrian LimAcademic Leadership and/or Accomplishment Adrian is the Principal of Nee Ann Secondary School where he has been working closely with his teachers to harness the power of new technologies to transform teaching and learning. Under his leadership, the school has achieved prestigious international awards and accolades for information and communication technologies (ICT) in Education. It was announced recently that Ngee Ann Secondary School has joined the FutureSchools@Singapore programme to push the frontiers of ICT in education. |
Wong Woon HongCultural Achievement Huang Wen Hong is a well- known radio DJ personality in the Chinese media sector with 16 years of radio experience. He is a rare local artist with excellent achievements across radio, TV, movie, stage- performance, talk-show and authorship. He is currently the Programme Director at SPH Unionworks Mandarin Radio Station. His belief that media can create positive impact to its audience has led him to promote “media social responsibility“. He has consistently developed numerous charitable programmes at Radio 1003 to target the vulnerable within our society such as the single mothers, stay-alone elderly, hospice and HIV patients, and criminals. |
Mark ChengMoral and/or Environmental Leadership A firm campaigner of sustainable development, Mark Cheng started his environmental work in 2001 where he volunteered with various social and environment non-government organization in the region. Dismayed at the lack of green education in Singapore & Asia, he co- founded Avelife in June 2009 where he serves as the Executive Director since. Mark was recently nominated to be a council member for the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council. In Singapore, Mark is serving as a National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) GAHA EXCO member and a PAYM Youth Executive Committee Vice-Chairman. |
Andy KhongScientific and/or Technological Development Andy Khong is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research focuses on signal processing in various applications and he has published more than 55 works at top-tier international journals and conferences within the last eight years. Since joining NTU as a faculty member, Andy continued to excel as a junior faculty member. In terms of research, Andy has secured a total of close to S$2 M funding within the first year of joining NTU. He is currently managing a team of about 14 full-time researchers and Ph.D. students, one of the largest research teams in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His projects are mainly funded by the National Research Foundation and Ministry of Defence, Singapore. |
Yip Pin XiuPersonal Improvement and/or Accomplishment Pin Xiu has muscular dystrophy, whereby her muscles slowly break down as she grows older. Because of her condition, young Pin Xiu had to rely on walking aids such as braces, and later, wheelchairs to help her get around. After her first swim, Pin Xiu could not forget the freedom she experienced in the water, where she could enjoy as much as any other person. Since then, Pin Xiu has achieved a number of accolades in sports and swimming, including the National Colours Award in 2006 for her excellent performance during one of the international competitions she participated. In recognitions of her achievements, Yip Pin Xiu was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal, "Pingat Jasa Gemilang" (PJG) in 2008. In 2010, Pin Xiu was presented with the Singapore Youth Award (SYA). |
